Layyah/DG Khan – On the second day of the ongoing “International Khawaja Ghulam Fareed Conference,” organized by Punjab Arts Council, DG Khan Division, events were held to highlight the Sufi thoughts, peace, brotherhood, and cultural, linguistic, and social values inspired by Khawaja Ghulam Fareed (RA).
The day began with a beautiful tableau presented by students of Al-Khawarizmi School based on Khawaja Fareed’s poetry, which captivated all attendees. International scholars Nadeem Saeed, Adnan Khan, and Hammad Khan paid poetic tributes to the Sufi saint. The event was further enlivened by the captivating hosting of Mehboob Hussain Khan Jhangvi.
Following the performances, scholars including Dr. Shakeel Pitafi, Dr. Ismatullah Shah, Dr. Rashida Qazi, and Asim Meharo delivered lectures focusing on the core messages of Khawaja Ghulam Fareed’s poetry, emphasizing peace, tolerance, and cultural pride.
2. Grand Operation Against Illegal Encroachments Near Siddiq Park
Layyah – December 16 – Following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Deputy Commissioner Layyah Asif Ali Dogar, a major operation was conducted against illegal encroachments on government land near Siddiq Park. The operation successfully reclaimed the land from unauthorized possession.
Notices and formal removal orders were issued to the encroachers, and six shops were sealed for violating the law. The operation was supervised by SDEO Para Am Habiba Qureshi.
Addressing the media, SDEO Para Am Habiba Qureshi stated that the Punjab government is committed to protecting government land under all circumstances. Strict legal action is being taken against violators, and operations will continue under the zero-tolerance policy for any future illegal encroachments.
